Women VOTE! For The Win in New Mexico and California

We’re pretty excited for Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) and Julia Brownley (CA-26) as they celebrate Tuesday’s primary victories. Facing fierce opponents in demanding districts, these women led strong campaigns to pull off amazing wins. In races like these, creating meaningful connections with women voters can often make the difference between victory and defeat. Why? Because when women vote, Democrats win.

With women’s rights constantly under attack and the increasing power of corporate money in elections, connecting with women voters has never been more important. EMILY’s List members nationwide showed an outpouring of support for our candidates from the very beginning. Your continued support made it possible for Lujan Grisham and Brownley to successfully connect with women voters in the final stretch. Here’s how:

EMILY’s List’s WOMEN VOTE! was founded to educate and mobilize women voters to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates. By using sophisticated polling and research, WOMEN VOTE! programs strategically identify, target and communicate with women voters on the issues they care most about.

And that’s exactly what we did in both New Mexico and California. After a thorough examination of our candidates, their opponents and the dynamics of the election, we identified that women voters were the key to victory. So we did what WOMEN VOTE! is best at – providing these women with real, relevant and reliable information about the issues they care most about. Check out how we helped to mobilize Democratic women in New Mexico and California to vote for these two terrific, progressive and pro-choice candidates!

Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01): Targeting Hispanic Women Voters

Polling showed Hispanic women voters were a key demographic for Lujan Grisham, and they would support Michelle in big numbers if we made sure they knew about her record of standing up for New Mexico’s most vulnerable citizens and for families.

Women and families today are facing critical issues that deserve decisive action. This mailing informed women about Michelle Lujan Grisham commitment to fighting for families and the middle class.

Julia Brownley (CA-26): Targeting pro-choice women voters

With six candidates on the ballot, pro-choice women needed to know which ‘real Democratic champion’ they could rely on. The answer was ‘only one:’ Julia Brownley.
