Kathleen Falk: Modern Day Super Hero
If you think bullying only happens in schools, you’re wrong. It might not be teasing or pulling hair or picking a fight, but bullying can happen any time someone misuses their power to hurt others.
By that standard, Wisconsin Governor, Scott Walker is the biggest bully of them all. Last year, Walker eliminated collective bargaining rights for public employees (predominantly women), wanted to cut $1.9 million used for cancer screenings, health exams and family planning centers such as Planned Parenthood, and passed a budget that seeks to do lasting harm to women and families.
Luckily, we have Kathleen Falk ready and willing to recall this right-wing bully. Falk has worked for 14 years across party lines to balance budgets, negotiate labor agreements, and save taxpayer dollars as head of the state’s second-largest county. If she wins, Falk would be the first woman governor in Wisconsin - at a time when the number of Democratic women governors is in decline. The last time there were no Democratic women governors serving was 15 years ago!
As though Scott Walker’s bullying of the working class wasn’t enough, he does it flanked by his two thug financiers, the Koch brothers. He’s a well-funded bully with endless resources to continue holding down the very group of people he should be holding up. Because the Koch brothers control the purse strings, Walker is a puppet in their agenda. And he shows time and time again that his number one priority is his bank account, not the people of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin has suffered enough as the direct result of Scott Walker’s bullying. But Kathleen Falk is ready to turn that all around. She understands that there are competing interests and that both sides need to find a balance. Falk plans to use her power as governor to restore workers’ rights and restore Wisconsin’s faith in its government.
More than 1 million people stood up to say “enough is enough” to the Scott Walker/Koch brothers bullying agenda. You can join them by contributing to Kathleen Falk’s campaign, following her on Twitter and liking her on Facebook. However you support her, make sure you watch this race – it is one of the only chances anywhere in the country to see a Democratic woman elected Governor.
